• Place a copy of SmartLaunch 3.3.2 (System 7 required) anywhere you like. For quick access, you can put an alias of SmartLaunch on your DeskTop, in your Apple Menu Items, or even in the Startup Items folder. (SmartLaunch is implemented as a Control Panel File to provide seamless integration with the Finder. However, it doesn't actually control anything, and it contains no 'INIT' resources.)
FEATURES
• Select a volume or server and what you're looking for (Applications, Documents, Control Panels, Folders, or Server aliases), and SmartLaunch will search and present for "launching" a sorted list of up to 2500 of them, with their icons if you prefer.
• SmartLaunch will quit automatically when you need memory for other operations.
USAGE
• To switch the list between Applications, Documents (owned by the last selected application), Control Panels, Folders, and Server aliases, click the appropriate buttons or use the tab (or shift-tab) key.
• To scan other volumes, click the Prev Vol or Next Vol buttons or use the left and right arrow keys.
• To “launch” a selected item, click the Launch (Open or Mount) button or use the return or enter keys.
• To “quick-find” an item, start keying in its name.
• To see the full path name of a selected item, hold down the option key.
• To quickly re-activate SmartLaunch (SmartLaunch is open, but its window is hidden from view), move the mouse to the upper left corner of the screen and hold down the shift key.
• To resize the SmartLaunch window, drag the Grow button.
• To copy the name of the selected item to the Clipboard, use the Copy command under the Edit menu. (Then, for example, you could use the Find… command under the File menu and paste the name into the Find dialog to locate the item on the Desktop.)
• To "quick-find" the item whose name matches the text (if any) on the Clipboard, use the Paste command under the Edit menu.
• To change the color of the SmartLaunch controls, use the Color Control Panel File.
• To see the on-line Balloon Help, select the Show Balloons command under the Help menu.
• To see the on-line help/about screen, click the "Balloon" button.
• To change list view settings (font and icon control), click the "Prefs" button and select the desired checkbox settings.
• To configure SmartLaunch to "hide" itself when it is not the frontmost Finder window, click the "Prefs" button and select the "Hide When Not Activated" checkbox.
• To launch any item by "folder navigation," click the "Jack of all Trades" button.
